Gnosis Bridge: Help a First Transfer Complete Properly

This guide covers how a Gnosis bridge transfer operates, which network and gas are needed at each point, and what to do when the transaction does not finish as expected. It applies when a person is moving supported assets between Gnosis Chain and another connected blockchain through a self-custody wallet, meaning the person—not an exchange—controls the wallet address and confirms each transaction.

What Is the Gnosis Bridge?

The Gnosis Bridge is a transfer route that holds or releases an asset on one blockchain and makes its corresponding asset available on Gnosis Chain or the selected destination network.

1. Before “Connect Wallet” appears, prepare gas on both sides

Before I start, I put a small amount of each network’s native gas token in the same wallet: gas pays the blockchain to process the departure transaction and, where required, the claim or final transaction at the destination. I also confirm the exact token, amount, source network, and destination network; a bridge does not repair a transfer sent on the wrong chain.

2. “Wrong Network” means the wallet is not on the chosen source chain

Select the chain that currently contains the tokens, then connect the wallet. If the screen shows Wrong Network or Switch Network, approve the wallet’s network change and check that the wallet address still contains the intended balance. Do not change networks merely to remove the warning; the source selection and wallet network must match.

3. “Insufficient Funds for Gas” is separate from the token balance

Choose the asset and enter an amount that keeps enough native token for the transaction fee. Insufficient Funds for Gas means the wallet can hold the bridged token but cannot cover the network to move it. Add native gas to that wallet on the source chain, then retry with the same route.

4. “Approve” may be required before “Bridge”

For many tokens, the initial transfer is an approval: consent for the bridge contract to move that token amount. Confirm it, wait for the wallet to report success, then press the bridge action and confirm the following transaction. 5. “Transaction Pending” means the source chain has not finalized it

Leave the wallet linked and wait for the source-chain transaction to complete. Do not submit an identical transfer again. If it remains pending unusually long, open the transaction from the wallet, verify that it is still pending rather than failed, and use the wallet’s speed-up or replacement option only if it supports one.

6. “Token Not Received” can mean a final claim is still needed

After the source transaction succeeds, switch to the destination network and add the token to the wallet view if needed. If the bridge shows Claim, Finalize, or Ready to Execute, confirm that destination-side step. If it shows Failed, read the transaction error before retrying; a failed approval, missing gas, and unsupported route require different fixes.
